This update brings several changes to Samourai Dojo. Namely, the addition of Mempool Space explorer, Addrindexrs deprecation in favor of Electrs and Bitcoin Core 31.0. It also includes a number of bug fixes and minor improvements and updates.

Mempool Space block explorer

This version adds support for Mempool Space block explorer. A user can now choose between Mempool Space and BTC-RPC Explorer as an integrated explorer for their paired wallet.

To use Mempool Space, a user must reconfigure their docker-explorer.conf file:

change EXPLORER_TYPE to mempool_space
update MEMPOOL_MYSQL_PASS with a secure password
update MEMPOOL_MYSQL_ROOT_PASSWORD with a secure password

After that, the user must run ./dojo.sh upgrade for these changes to take effect.

Addrindexrs deprecated, added Electrs support

Addrindexrs has been unmaintained for a long time and has been deprecated in favor of Electrs.

Electrs is a good option for users whose hardware does not have the necessary performance to run Fulcrum while still allowing them to have access to electrum server capabilities.

Users who are currently using Addrindexrs will need to update their docker-indexer.conf file:

change INDEXER_TYPE to electrs

Users who are using Fulcrum before the update do not have to perform any action.

Minor changes and updates

There are also minor changes and updates like lowering the high watermark for block processing to save on RAM usage, fixing host extraction for ipv6 in Knots ban script, updating Bitcoin Core to v31.0 and updating Docker images to latest stable debian versions.

Fulcrum v2.0.0

This version updates Fulcrum to v2.0.0. This Fulcrum update brings more stability and better performance.

After Dojo uograde, Fulcrum needs to migrate its database to a new format which can take a couple of hours. During this time, it won’t be possible to perform a rescan or wallet import.

It is crucial that this process is not interrupted (no Dojo shutdown/restart) because that would cause Fulcrum DB to end up corrupted.

Observe progress in Fulcrum logs to identify when this process has finished.

Soroban P2P network

This version introduces Soroban P2P network. MyDojo (docker setup) users will automatically have Soroban installed as part of their Dojo.

Dojo will be able to leverage Soroban P2P network for various future applications.

Dojo already has its first feature based on Soroban: PandoTx.

PandoTx is a transaction transport layer - when your wallet pushes a transaction to Dojo, it will be relayed to a random Soroban node which will then push it to the Bitcoin network.

This also means that your Soroban node can receive other people’s transactions and relay them to Bitcoin network.

This feature is meant to break the heuristic that a node relaying the transaction is closely coupled with person who made that transaction.

Pushing transactions through Soroban can be deactivated by setting NODE_PANDOTX_PUSH=off in docker-node.conf.

Processing incoming transactions from Soroban network can be deactivated by setting NODE_PANDOTX_PROCESS=off in docker-node.conf.

API key management

There has been an uptick of people providing their Dojos for the community. In order to make giving access to Dojo more manageable, the API key management has been introduced.

Dojo admins can now find new API management tab in their DMT. Here they can create unlimited number of API keys, assign labels for easy identification and set expiration of an API key.

This allows admins to not compromise their main API key and distribute specific API keys just to desired parties.

New API endpoints

Several new API endpoints have been created so that API consumers have better time developing new features on top of Dojo.

New:

/latest-block - returns data about latest block
/txout/:txid/:index - returns unspent output data
/support/services - returns info about services that Dojo exposes

Updated:

/tx/:txid - endpoint has been updated to return raw transaction with parameter ?rawHex=1

The introduction of /support/services now also means that the explorer field in the Dojo pairing payload is deprecated. While it will still be present, API consumers should switch to using this new endpoint to get explorer and other pairing information.

Testnet4 support

This version updates Bitcoin Core to v28.0 with support for testnet4.

If you wish to stay on testnet3, DO NOT upgrade.

Furthermore, testnet4 is only supported by Fulcrum. Addrindexrs does not support testnet4.

Dojo tracker will automatically detect block hash mismatch and will delete the block database and resync - all tracked addresses and XPUBs will stay tracked, only their history will be erased due to switch to new chain.

Fulcrum DB has to be deleted manually using docker exec -it fulcrum rm -rf /home/fulcrum/.fulcrum/db.

Mainnet users are unaffected by this change.

Snowflake bridges support in Tor

This version adds support for Snowflake bridges in Tor. Snowflake is a pluggable transport for Tor that uses WebRTC to disguise traffic.
